WITTENBERG, WI – It was a back-and-forth battle between the top 2 teams in the CWC-East between the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers and the Bonduel Bears.
It was shot for shot within the first 8 minutes of the ball game, until each team went on mini runs just to be responded by the opposing team.
At halftime it was a 29-25 lead for Wittenberg-Birnamwood off of 10 points for Rory Salvesen in the 1st half and 12 from Melaina Granquist. Bonduel was paced by 7 points from Juliana Jacobs in the 1st half.
After the break, it was a quick 12-6 run by the Chargers which made Bonduel call timeout with 12:00 left in the 2nd half.
Bonduel was only held to 13 points in the 2nd half and had 11 turnovers in the 2nd half as the Chargers press proved costly for Wittenberg-Birnamwood to remain unbeaten in route to a 71-38 win.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood was led by Rory Salvesen who finished with 28 points and Melaina Granquist who finished with 17.
Bonduel was led by Juliana Jacobs with 9 points and Allison Zernicke with 7 points.
With the win, Wittenberg-Birnamwood improved to 22-0 and 13-0 in the East.
Bonduel dropped to 18-4 overall and 11-2 in the East.
