Bay Port outlasted West De Pere 55–52 in a double-overtime thriller Friday night, adding another close win to the Pirates’ strong season.
West De Pere led 34–21 after the first half, but Bay Port chipped away in the second, using defense and timely shooting to force overtime. Both teams scored four in the first OT before the Pirates held the Phantoms scoreless in the second extra period while adding the decisive three points.
Olivia Williams carried Bay Port offensively with 29 points, knocking down six threes, and added 10 rebounds and two blocks. Kailynn Thompson posted a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, helping Bay Port control the glass. Madeline Lewitzke chipped in eight points, including two triples, and Melia Lemorande contributed on the boards and as a facilitator.
Bay Port finished with 36 rebounds, seven blocks, and shot 84.6% at the free-throw line, key factors in surviving the two overtime periods. The win gives Bay Port a 2–0 edge in the season series.
Fox Valley Lutheran 56, Winneconne 50
Fox Valley Lutheran picked up a quality 56–50 win over Winneconne on Friday night, holding off a late push to secure the six-point victory.
The Foxes leaned on balanced scoring and steady free-throw shooting to build their total, going 20-for-28 at the line. Fox Valley Lutheran also created extra chances on the glass with 12 offensive rebounds and forced nine steals on the defensive end.
Eden Last led the way with 14 points and went 5-of-6 at the stripe. Brianna Dahlke added 11 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in an all-around effort, while Olivia Johnson also scored 11, converting 8-of-10 free throws.
On the boards, Kinley Peterson grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. Grace Meier dished out four assists to pace the offense.
The win for FVL evens the season series between the two teams at 1–1.
