SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – With 2025 wrapped up, George Lenzner says new year-end numbers show just how busy law enforcement has been across Shawano County. Lenzner reports the county handled more court cases, issued more traffic citations, and saw more overall criminal activity than neighboring Waupaca and Oconto counties.
He points to several key factors behind those numbers, including Shawano County’s location along major highway routes that serve as a gateway for travelers heading north. Lenzner says highways such as 47 and routes connecting through Cecil bring a steady flow of traffic from the Fox Valley and beyond.
Tourism also plays a role, with three casinos in the area drawing visitors throughout the year. Lenzner says the combination of travel corridors, tourism, and geography keeps deputies busy year-round responding to calls and maintaining a strong law enforcement presence.
