CLINTONVILLE, WI – Voters in Clintonville will see at least one write-in option when they head to the polls for this spring’s city council election. Alderman Branden Schirpke, who represents District 3, has filed paperwork to run as a registered write-in candidate after missing the deadline to have his name printed on the April 7 ballot.
City officials say Schirpke did submit a declaration of candidacy, but it was filed after the extended deadline, meaning his name will not appear on the printed ballot. For votes to count, residents must write in his name correctly in the designated space.
Meanwhile, District 5 Alderman Brandon Braden did not return candidacy paperwork and will not appear on the ballot or as a registered write-in candidate.
Election officials are reminding voters to carefully follow write-in instructions at the polls to ensure their selections are properly recorded.
