Shawano police were busy yesterday responding to a wide range of calls across the city.
Early Sunday morning, officers assisted ambulance crews with multiple medical and lift-assist calls, including a Lifeline alert on South Lafayette Street where a man had fallen in his bathroom but was not injured. Police later provided mutual aid for a hospice patient needing assistance on South Weed Street
In the early afternoon, officers investigated a hit-and-run on West Fifth Street after a parked vehicle was struck overnight. The suspect vehicle left the scene before police arrived, and the investigation is ongoing
Police also conducted several welfare checks, including one involving a highly intoxicated man seen staggering along Main Street near Green Bay Street. Officers made contact to ensure his safety
Other calls included a reported theft involving a former employee on East Green Bay Street, multiple vehicle lockouts, a traffic hazard involving a deer struck on County Highway B, and a late-night report of reckless driving near Highway 47 and 55
Clintonville Police were kept busy throughout the day Sunday, responding to a variety of calls across the city. Officers conducted multiple traffic stops, including early morning activity near McKinley Avenue and Hughes Street, as well as later stops at County Highway I and Ginger Trace, and Jepson Road and Highway 156.
Police also responded to a disorderly conduct call on East 14th Street shortly after 2 a.m. No further details were released. Extra patrols were carried out in several neighborhoods, including Anne Street, South Madison Street, Pine Street, Picnic Point, and the Pigeon Lake boat launch at Pickerel Point.
Emergency crews were called to McKinley Avenue for an ambulance run during the afternoon. Officers also assisted residents with a lockout on West Madison Street and a citizen assist call on Anne Street.
Late Sunday night, police investigated a suspicious vehicle on South Main Street.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 30 incidents across the county on Sunday, ranging from traffic crashes and medical calls to warrant arrests and public safety concerns.
Deputies were busy early in the morning with multiple vehicle crashes involving deer. One incident just after midnight near Highway 45 and Wegner Road involved airbag deployment, with the deer left in the roadway. Another deer-related crash was reported later near County Highway M and Capitol Drive.
Several traffic and roadway hazards were handled throughout the day, including debris in the roadways near Pulaski and Bonduel, where deputies removed large metal objects posing safety risks to drivers. A reckless driving complaint was also reported near Highway 22 and River Bank Road in the Clintonville area.
Deputies assisted with medical and welfare-related calls, including ambulance assists, a welfare check in Tigerton, and a call where deputies helped a husband whose wife had fallen and could not get up. Multiple vehicle lockouts were also reported, including one involving a running vehicle with a dog inside.
Law enforcement activity included a warrant arrest in Wittenberg and multiple operating-after-revocation or suspension cases in Shawano and Aniwa. Deputies also responded to drug-related activity in the city of Shawano Sunday evening.
Late in the day, deputies investigated harassment complaints, suspicious activity, and several 911 calls across the county.
