Shawano Police responded to calls ranging from fire assists and welfare checks to shoplifting and disturbances.
Just after midnight, officers assisted fire crews at the Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street after reports of a burning smell coming from the building’s vents. No smoke or flames were found, and the scene was cleared safely.
Police later handled an abandoned vehicle near South Main Street and East Lieg Avenue and conducted multiple welfare checks, including calls involving residents on South Franklin Street, East Richmond Street, and Fifth Street. One welfare check involving a child prompted further follow-up by authorities.
Throughout the day, officers responded to reports of shoplifting at Kwik Trip, trespassing at Oak Haven, and suspicious activity at ThedaCare Medical Center. Evening calls included disturbances on Engel Drive and South Smalley Street, a noise complaint on Kleeman Court, and a disorderly conduct report near Mountain Bay Trail.
Late Wednesday night, police investigated a bail jumping complaint and a threatening incident on South Franklin Street. All incidents remain under investigation or were handled without major injury reported.
Clintonville Police handled a wide range of calls across the city. Officers conducted multiple early-morning business checks along South Main Street. Extra patrols were also logged shortly before 6 a.m. on Anne Street and South Madison Street.
Later in the morning, police responded to a fire reported on Ninth Street just after 9:30. No injuries were reported. Officers assisted residents on Felshow Street and Tenth Street in separate citizen assist calls.
Welfare checks were conducted on South Main Street and Anne Street during the late morning and early afternoon hours. In the afternoon, police investigated a harassment complaint on West Morning Glory Drive.
Traffic enforcement included a stop at North Main Street and 15th Street just after 9:30 Wednesday night. The day wrapped up with officers responding to an alarm on Summer Street shortly before 11:35 p.m.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled more than 30 calls for service Wednesday, ranging from property damage and traffic incidents to a weapons complaint and an OWI arrest.
Deputies were called just before 3:40 Wednesday morning to the Shawano County Jail on North Main Street for a reported property damage incident. Around the same time, a 9-1-1 call from Tigerton was determined to be an accidental dial.
Later in the morning, deputies responded to a reported water main break near the post office in Bonduel and assisted fire crews with a fire alarm on West Green Bay Street. A funeral escort was also conducted late in the morning in Bonduel.
Traffic-related calls remained steady throughout the day, including disabled vehicles near Bonduel and Shawano, reports of reckless driving near Highway 22, and multiple crashes, some involving injuries, in Mattoon and Tigerton.
Just before noon, deputies investigated a weapons complaint near Beech Road and Broadway Road after reports of a man firing a gun from a vehicle while coyote hunting. No injuries were reported.
In the evening, deputies responded to several suspicious activity calls and harassment complaints, including reports of people peering into homes near Cloverleaf Lake. One person was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop in the Shawano area.
The day wrapped up with reports of criminal damage and additional assist calls. All incidents remain under investigation or were handled without further issue.
