SUAMICO, WI – As winter conditions settle in, staff at the NEW Zoo & Adventure Park are asking for community support to help keep animals comfortable during the colder months. Nathaniel Wagner says straw donations play a critical role in winter animal care, providing bedding that helps animals stay warm and insulated.
Wagner says the zoo is always looking for additional straw donations, noting that many animals rely on it daily as temperatures drop. The straw helps retain heat and offers extra protection against harsh winter conditions, making it an essential resource throughout the season.
Despite the cold, Wagner says the zoo continues to offer outdoor winter activities for visitors looking to enjoy the season. The zoo rents classic cross-country skis seven days a week, with rentals available for either three or six hours. Skis can be picked up directly from the Adventure Park, allowing guests to explore the grounds in a unique way.
Snowshoe rentals are also available, giving visitors another fun and active option to experience the zoo’s winter scenery. Zoo officials say these activities provide a great way for families and outdoor enthusiasts to stay active while supporting the zoo during the winter months.
