Shawano Police responded to a wide range of calls Tuesday, from welfare checks and traffic incidents to retail theft and late-night investigations.
Officers conducted an early morning welfare check on East Richmond Street after a report of a woman sitting outside in cold conditions. A short time later, police checked on a suspicious situation at the Shawano Humane Society after a garage door was found partially open while the building was closed.
Later in the morning, officers handled a found property report on South Sawyer Street and assisted ambulance crews with a medical call near County Trunk N and Maple.
Police also responded to property damage at Swiderski Apartments, where a vehicle struck a garage, leaving structural damage before leaving the scene.
Other calls included a stray dog running loose, non-reportable traffic crashes, and a shoplifting complaint at Goodwill, involving a suspect believed to be connected to thefts at other locations.
In the evening, officers responded to a noise complaint, an alarm call at Dunham’s, assisted another law enforcement agency with a domestic incident, and investigated a drug-related complaint.
Clintonville Police stayed busy throughout the day Tuesday with patrols, traffic enforcement, and several medical responses across the city.
During the overnight hours, officers conducted multiple business checks on South Clinton Avenue, Hemlock Street, Ninth Street, South Main, and other locations as part of routine crime prevention efforts. Extra patrols were also carried out on 15th Street, Anne Street, and 20th Street.
Police responded to several suspicious activity calls, including reports on North 12th Street in both the early morning and early afternoon, and a suspicious vehicle later Tuesday evening near Commercial Avenue and Winter Street. No immediate threats were reported.
Officers made traffic stops at North Main and West 13th Street and later on South Main Street.
Emergency crews were called to medical incidents on Summer Street and East Madison Street, while police also provided agency assistance on North 12th Street.
In the afternoon, Clintonville Police assisted other agencies with mutual aid near the intersection of Highway 45 and Highway 76.
It was another busy day for the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office as deputies responded to more than 30 incidents across the county on Tuesday.
Several traffic-related calls kept deputies on the roads throughout the day, including multiple non-reportable crashes on Highways 29 and 22, along with county highways in Cecil, Pulaski, and Bonduel. Most of those crashes involved vehicles sliding into ditches due to winter driving conditions, and no serious injuries were reported.
Deputies also handled several 911 calls, many of which turned out to be accidental, including drivers unintentionally activating emergency systems inside their vehicles. Authorities remind residents to stay familiar with in-vehicle emergency features to prevent unnecessary emergency responses.
Law enforcement responded to a harassment complaint, a noise disturbance involving reported gunfire, and multiple welfare checks, including one involving concerns for a resident at a local care facility.
More serious calls included a domestic disturbance in the City of Shawano, a drug-related incident near the Shawano County Courthouse, and an OWI arrest late Tuesday night near North Genesee Street and East Wood Avenue.
Deputies also assisted emergency medical services several times and handled warrant pickups involving Menominee and Brown counties.
Meanwhile, Stockbridge-Munsee Police responded to three calls, including a theft reported in Gresham and a traffic crash on County Highway A.
