Shawano Police responded to a busy series of calls over the past 24 hours, ranging from suspicious activity to arrests and medical assists.
Just after midnight, officers investigated reports of possible trespassing at a South Union Street apartment, where a caller heard unexplained footsteps after neighbors had reportedly been evicted. A short time later, police responded to a drug complaint at a West Third Street apartment after a resident reported the smell of marijuana while children were inside the home.
Early in the morning, officers checked a Walgreens store on East Green Bay Street after a stockroom fire exit alarm was triggered, and later assisted a motorist locked out of a running vehicle on East Richmond Street.
Later in the day, police responded to reports of mailbox tampering near South Lafayette and West Picnic Streets, and arrested a man on an active Shawano County warrant at the probation and parole office.
Officers also assisted with medical calls, a funeral escort, shoplifting at Charlie’s County Market, and a welfare check early Tuesday morning.
Clintonville Police stayed active throughout Monday with a mix of patrols, investigations, and emergency responses across the city.
Officers conducted extra patrols overnight and throughout the day at several locations, including Picnic Point, Pickerel Point Playground, Anne Street, 20th Street, schools along West Green Tree Road, and neighborhood areas as part of routine safety checks.
Police also handled multiple business checks on South Main Street and Industrial Avenue, along with several suspicious activity reports on Wilson Street, South Main Street, West Third and Bennett Streets, and Eighth Street. No immediate threats were reported.
Emergency crews responded to ambulance calls on Wilson Street and North Main Street, and officers assisted with two 911 calls on North and South Main Streets.
A motor vehicle crash was reported at Campus Drive and South Main Street during the afternoon. Police also provided an escort on North Main Street and assisted another agency with mutual aid along Highway 45.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office stayed busy throughout the day Monday, responding to 45 calls for service across the county, many of them weather- and traffic-related.
Deputies handled multiple traffic accidents, including several vehicles sliding into ditches along Highway 29, County Trunk D, and rural roads near Bowler, Cecil, and Wittenberg. Authorities say icy road conditions were a factor in several of those crashes. Most incidents resulted in property damage only, with no serious injuries reported.
Law enforcement also responded to traffic hazards, disabled vehicles, and parking complaints, as well as several welfare checks in Shawano County communities. One welfare check in Wittenberg involved concern for a resident who had not been heard from for several days.
Deputies assisted motorists with vehicle lockouts, investigated alarm calls, and made an arrest on an outstanding warrant issued out of Brown County.
Later in the evening, deputies responded to reports involving drugs and an assault investigation near County Trunk BB, both of which remain under investigation.
