SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano School Board has unanimously approved a revised 119-page school safety plan, set to take effect at the start of the new year.
District leaders say the updated plan emphasizes prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery, and was created in collaboration with local police, fire departments, emergency management officials, staff, parents, and community members. The plan outlines new training requirements for staff, expanded annual safety reviews, updated emergency drills, and strengthened policies regarding weapons, bullying, and threat reporting.
Administrators say the goal of the overhaul is simple but essential: ensuring that student safety remains the foundation for learning across all Shawano schools.
