PULASKI, WI – Drivers in Pulaski are being urged to use extra caution at intersections staffed by school crossing guards after a recent incident in which a vehicle drove through a guard’s raised stop sign as children were crossing. Police say the situation could have ended much worse and are reminding motorists that, under Wisconsin law, a crossing guard directing traffic has full authority over the intersection. Drivers are required to stop when instructed and remain stopped until the guard has completely cleared the roadway.
The Pulaski Police Department says staying alert and following directions is essential to protecting children and pedestrians, especially during busy school drop-off and pick-up times. Officers are asking all motorists to slow down, pay attention, and help keep school zones safe.
