CLINTONVILLE, WI- The Clintonville Christmas Parade has been canceled as dangerous winter weather continues to disrupt holiday traditions across Northeast Wisconsin.
Parade organizers announced Wednesday that Saturday’s event will not take place due to an arctic blast expected to push into the region over the weekend. Forecasts call for daytime highs in the single digits and wind chills dropping between 20 and 30 degrees below zero overnight, conditions officials say are unsafe for parade participants and spectators.
Tina Schulke, Director of the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce says “Santa will still be at the community center from 5 to 7 pm, we will have a smores station and crafts for the kids inside.”
Clintonville becomes the latest community to call off or adjust holiday festivities as snow, cold, and early-season storms have wreaked havoc on December events across Northeast Wisconsin. Several cities have already canceled or postponed parades in recent weeks, with Clintonville now joining that growing list.
Organizers say they made the decision out of caution, prioritizing the safety of families, performers, and volunteers. No makeup date has been announced.
