Wildcats Lean on Experience, Defense for 2025-26
The Gresham High School Boys Basketball Preview Spotlight is presented by Bay Bank with locations in Keshena and Green Bay. It is also sponsored by Eric’s Septic Service and Gresham Municipal Utilities.
The Gresham Wildcats return to the court with a seasoned core and clear focus under head coach Brett Nelson. Despite losing some scoring and perimeter shooting to graduation, Nelson says the returning group has plenty of experience, and enough firepower to stay competitive. “We lost a little bit with Wanbli Spotted War Bonnet and Colby Belongia, but we return three seniors and a lot of our scoring,” Nelson said. “We’ll need guys like Kevin Miller, Kobe Miller, and Thomas Kaquatosh to step up.” Many Wildcats were thrown into varsity action early in their careers, something Nelson believes now works in their favor. With so many players entering their junior and senior seasons battle-tested, Gresham expects to be more poised in close games. Nelson says the program’s identity this year will center on toughness. “Our on-ball defense has to keep us in games,” he said. “If we win the rebounding battle and the turnover battle, we’re going to give ourselves a great chance.” With experience, balance, and a renewed defensive mindset, Gresham looks ready to take a step forward in the CWC North.
