SHAWANO, WI – Charlie’s County Market in Shawano is stepping up to help one of its own after a devastating house fire left a team member’s family without a home. Store Director Kelly Sufka says staff immediately came together to organize a fundraiser as soon as they learned what happened. “I was trying to come up with an option that would be easiest and the fastest to get the product out and something we could turn around,” Sufka said.
The store is hosting a pasta and meatball fundraiser tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 100% of proceeds going directly to the affected family. Community members can also bring donations to the store, including clothing, toys, and other new or gently used items. Sufka says the family is “starting over from scratch,” and notes that bedding will be especially helpful as they work toward settling into a new apartment.
The fundraiser aims to provide the family with immediate support as they rebuild their lives after the fire.
