SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano Common Council has officially approved the city’s 2026 budget following a detailed presentation outlining how rising costs will affect local taxpayers. Financial consultant Brian Della walked council members through the major cost drivers contributing to this year’s increase, explaining how the numbers translate to the average homeowner. “This just shows the math behind the $60 increase on a $100,000 assessed value. It’s growing by $60,000, or 3.16 percent, for the average property tax bill in the city,” Della told the council.
Following the presentation, Mayor Bruce Milavitz introduced Resolution 89-25, bringing the budget forward for a final vote. City Clerk Lesley Nemetz then conducted the roll call, officially confirming the approval of Shawano’s 2026 budget.
Residents can view the full budget presentation and a recording of the meeting on the City of Shawano’s website.
