WAUPACA, WI –
After four standout seasons with Waupaca volleyball, senior Peyton Carlson is closing the book on one chapter of her athletic career while preparing to begin an even bigger one at the Division I level this fall. Carlson, one of the Comets’ most consistent leaders on and off the court, will continue her volleyball journey at Creighton University, where she’ll join one of the top programs in the nation.
Carlson’s time at Waupaca has been defined by commitment, something she says grew even stronger during her senior year. “From Friday book club sessions with teammates to daily open conversations before practice, we believe the team’s culture played a major role in our success”, Carlson said. She says the Comets made volleyball their priority from the start of summer, often turning down other commitments to stay focused on the season.
While her career with Waupaca ends with a run to the state semifinals, Carlson’s next step came into focus long before postseason play. She knew Creighton was the right fit the moment she stepped on campus. Compared to everywhere else she visited, the atmosphere in Omaha felt homey and family-driven, something she says mattered just as much as the volleyball itself.
As she prepares for the move to the Big East, Carlson is embracing both the excitement and the challenge ahead.
