TOWN OF GERMANIA – The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred Wednesday night, November 12, in the Town of Germania near Tigerton.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a property on County Road M around 9:15 p.m. after a 911 caller reported that a man had pulled a gun and shot his friend. The caller told dispatchers he was hiding inside another building on the property with the door locked. While still on the phone, the suspect reportedly tried to enter the building, prompting the caller to fire his own weapon in self-defense.
When deputies arrived, they encountered the suspect outside the residence. Authorities say the man initially refused to comply with commands but was eventually taken into custody without further incident. During a search of the property, deputies found a 67-year-old man from the Greenleaf area dead inside a garage. No other individuals were located on the scene.
Investigators identified the suspect as a 74-year-old man from Clintonville, who was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries before being booked into the Shawano County Jail on homicide-related charges. The Shawano County District Attorney’s Office will review the case for formal charges.
The Sheriff’s Office says the three men were connected through ownership of local hunting land. The incident remains under investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
