Shawano Police had a busy day yesterday responding to a range of incidents across the city.
Officers were called to Prime Powersports on East Green Bay Street just after one-thirty in the morning when a burglar alarm went off. Responders checked the building and found everything secure.
A short time later, police cleared a traffic hazard on County Road B near Industrial Drive — a dead deer in the roadway that appeared to have been struck overnight.
Around three o’clock, officers investigated an OWI incident at Walmart on East Green Bay Street, where a driver was taken into custody for operating while intoxicated.
Later in the morning, police checked on a suspicious red minivan parked behind the Aurora Health Center. The vehicle appeared to have front-end damage but was later cleared from the scene.
Officers also handled several 911 hang-ups, assisted paramedics on medical calls, and responded to a report of illegal burning on South Lafayette Street.
In the afternoon, Shawano Police dealt with two separate lewd behavior reports at Walmart — one involving a man urinating in the parking lot and another of a male walking through the store without pants. Officers located and removed the suspect.
And before midnight, police were called to a disturbance on South Sawyer Street and a domestic incident on East Maurer Street, both of which were resolved without major injuries.
Shawano Police remind residents to report suspicious activity promptly
Clintonville Police handled a steady number of calls on Wednesday.
Officers investigated an illegal burning complaint around mid-morning near North Main and 18th Street, and later responded to a hit-and-run reported on South Main Street just after 1 p.m.
Police also dealt with a disorderly conduct incident on West Green Tree Road, along with a tobacco-related violation reported in the same area earlier in the day.
Routine patrols included school and neighborhood checks on 20th Street and Anne Street, as well as several ambulance assists throughout the day — including calls on North 12th Street, South Main, and West Green Tree Road.
Officers also handled an animal problem on West Madison Street and a 911 call on South Main.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 30 calls for service on Wednesday.
Deputies investigated an $8,000 theft in Wittenberg after a vehicle was broken into on Spruce Road. The money, which he said was business proceeds from Veterans Day, had been left in the vehicle when banks were closed. Timm told deputies he has camera footage of the suspect.
Deputies also handled a case of identity theft after city police forwarded a suspicious email complaint for investigation.
In Bonduel, a 70-year-old woman reported being scammed out of $4,600 earlier this year. She told deputies she mailed a check to the scammers in April but just realized it was fraud.
Two deer-related crashes were reported Wednesday evening — one near Tigerton and another on County Q in Wittenberg — both animals had to be dispatched due to injuries.
A welfare check was requested by the Menominee Tribal Clinic after an employee reportedly made suicidal statements and concerning social media posts. Deputies ensured the individual received help.
Officers also picked up two people on outstanding warrants — one along Highway 45 near Marion and another on Loon Lake Drive in Shawano.
The day’s calls also included several 911 hang-ups, traffic hazards caused by debris and animals, and a suspicious fire reported in a cemetery near Wittenberg, which was not found to be dangerous.
