SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – November is National COPD Awareness Month, and local health officials are using the occasion to remind residents about the importance of lung health.
The Shawano-Menominee Counties Health Department says COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is a serious condition that makes it difficult to breathe and is often caused by long-term exposure to irritants such as cigarette smoke or air pollution.
Health officials emphasize that while COPD can be life-altering, it is both preventable and treatable with early detection, medical care, and lifestyle changes.
Residents looking for more information or resources about COPD prevention and management can visit or contact the Shawano-Menominee Counties Health Department.
