Shawano Police were called to assist county jail staff early Monday morning, after an inmate became unruly and had to be placed in a restraint chair. Multiple officers responded to help jail deputies with the situation just after 2 a.m., and the incident was resolved without further issues.
Later in the morning, police received a report of reckless driving on Oakwood Drive Several officers responded, though no arrests were noted.
At Olga Brener Elementary and Shawano Middle School, school liaison officers handled several calls throughout the day, including a truancy case and a welfare check involving a student who met with crisis staff.
Officers were also busy at Charlie’s County Market, responding to two separate shoplifting calls Monday afternoon. In one incident, a female suspect reportedly resisted store staff in the liquor department. In the second, police identified a woman who had previously been trespassed from the store.
That evening, police checked on a construction site on Birch Hill Lane after the homeowner requested extra patrols to protect an unlocked trailer. Not long after, Shawano firefighters and police were called to Birch Hill Health Care for a fire alarm triggered by a sprinkler system water flow. Staff were able to reset the system, and no fire was found.
And just after midnight, officers conducted a welfare check on Humphrey Circle, ensuring the resident’s safety.
Clintonville Police Officers handled a busy start to the week with a mix of emergency and traffic-related calls across the city. Police assisted with a 911 call early in the morning on North Main Street and later responded with EMS to a medical call on West Green Tree Road.
Around mid-afternoon, officers were called to a disorderly conduct situation on West Morning Glory Drive. That same day, they also handled a property damage report at North Park and Robert Streets and investigated a suspicious activity call on North Main.
A stray animal was reported on 10th Street, and officers also kept an extra watch near the school zone on West Green Tree Road.
Traffic enforcement was active throughout the evening, with several stops made along Main Street, Buelow Road, and East First Street. Police also investigated a possible restraining order violation on Elm Street late in the morning.
Shawano County Sheriff’s Reported a busy day across the county with 39 incidents handled by deputies.
The day began just after midnight with a suspicious person call on Lake Drive, where a resident reported someone attempting to break into a neighbor’s car and then trying to flag down passing vehicles. Deputies also assisted staff at the Shawano County Jail around 2 a.m., helping place an uncooperative inmate into a restraint chair.
Before dawn, multiple roadway issues were reported along Highway 29, including a dead deer in the roadway, a disabled vehicle, and a deer-related crash near Leopolis Road. Several more deer-versus-car crashes were reported throughout the day as well.
A pair of vandalism cases were logged Monday morning—one involving damaged mailboxes on Lake Crest Drive, and another at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School. Deputies also responded to a civil dispute in Tigerton involving missing no-trespassing signs and snow fencing between neighbors.
Several 911 hang-up calls were investigated, all determined to be accidental. Deputies also looked into a fraud report tied to a missing cell phone, along with multiple information-only calls throughout the afternoon.
Around 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to a threatening complaint from a Marion resident reporting violent text messages sent to a family member. A welfare check in Bonduel later that afternoon also required follow-up.
On Wittenberg’s Gator Lane, a wallet was turned in, while in Gillett, deputies assisted a caller who had dropped her phone in a Dollar General parking lot and tracked it to a nearby residence.
Monday evening included several roadway hazards—debris from a deer crash, rolls of sod scattered on Highway 29, and reports of a U-Haul driving without taillights. A loose donkey on Comet Road in Tigerton kept deputies busy as well, eventually wandering into a field with deer.
The night wrapped up with a disturbance call in Wittenberg around 11:15 p.m.
