Shawano Police were called out to several incidents, including a couple of unusual ones. Just before 1 a.m., officers responded to a burglar alarm at Valvoline Instant Oil Change on East Green Bay Street. The alarm was triggered at the front entrance, but everything checked out and the business was secure.
Later that morning, a hit-and-run was reported on South Washington Street after a driver woke up to find their Chevy Equinox had been damaged overnight. Police are investigating that case.
Around 10:40 a.m., officers were called to Dollar Tree on Woodlawn Drive for a disturbance, followed soon after by a call from Dunkin’ Donuts. Employees there said a customer had come inside, yelled from the car, and dumped items on the counter while tampering with the tip jar.
Shortly after noon, officers were back at Valvoline when staff reported an intoxicated woman who had open alcohol and was about to drive away. Police located her and handled the situation.
Other calls included two vehicle lockouts, a welfare check at an apartment on Mountain Bay Trail Drive, a stray dog found on South Andrews Street, and a minor harassment complaint outside Charlie’s County Market.
And finally, a van caused some property damage to an overhang at the Four Seasons building on Airport Drive later in the evening.
Clintonville Police handled a variety of calls starting early in the morning with an ambulance call on North Clinton Avenue around 3:45.
Officers conducted extra patrols in neighborhoods on Anne Street and 20th Street before making traffic stops at Main and 14th.
Late in the morning, police responded to a report of fraud on West Morning Glory Drive. In the afternoon, they assisted with a vehicle lockout on North 12th Street and checked on an ordinance violation on West Green Tree Road.
A disabled vehicle was reported on Modoc Street, and police assisted another agency on South Main Street a short time later. Officers also helped a citizen on Green Tree Road and looked into a suspicious vehicle on West Morning Glory Drive.
The evening wrapped up with paper service on North 12th Street.
Shawano County deputies handled a busy day of calls responding to everything from littering to animal complaints and a few welfare checks.
It started early when a homeowner on Capitol Drive reported someone dumped around 30 tires in a roadside ditch. Deputies also checked on a loose pig spotted in a field near Bowler and later helped out with a crash detection alert on Clover Lane.
A two-vehicle accident was reported near County Roads A and 47-55—fortunately, no injuries were reported. Deputies also took a report of a break-in at a storage shed in the Clintonville area.
Later in the morning, two scam calls came in — one involving a fake Social Security scheme, and another where a scammer had falsely listed a local property for rent online.
Around midday, officers checked on a person found passed out in a parked truck near the Shawano Mini Mart and handled an assault between two teens on Hemlock Road later in the afternoon.
Animal-related calls kept deputies on the move — with reports of a stray dog running along Highway 29, two neglected doodles near Pulcifer, and even a loose horse near Bonduel.
In the evening, a tree blocking County Road G was cleared, deputies performed several welfare checks and investigated a suspicious fire and a vehicle complaint near Shawano.
In all, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office logged 28 incidents Thursday.
