SHAWANO, WI – As Veterans Day approaches, Shawano County is preparing to honor the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Several events are planned across the county to recognize their courage, sacrifice, and dedication.
The Shawano County Courthouse will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m., featuring guest speaker retired veteran Richard Kucksdorf. In Wittenberg, a ceremony will also begin at 11 a.m. at the Ho-Chunk Casino, including a flag raising, a guest speaker, and a complimentary lunch for veterans and their spouses.
Bonduel High School will hold its own Veterans Day celebration from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., inviting the public to join students and staff in honoring local heroes.
Following the courthouse ceremony, attendees are invited to the grand opening of the new VFW Post 2723 on Olsen Street in Shawano. The celebration begins at noon and is open to the public, giving residents another opportunity to gather, reflect, and thank the county’s veterans for their service and sacrifice.
