Shawano County Humane Society Expands Volunteer Opportunities, Launches New Program


SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano County Humane Society is putting out a call for volunteers and board member Kris Tetting says there’s a role for just about everyone who wants to make a difference. From spending time with animals to helping with daily operations, Tetting says volunteers are needed for everything from animal care and transport to laundry, cleaning, and organizing supplies.

She adds that sometimes, even small acts, like sitting with a shy dog or socializing kittens, can make a big difference in helping animals feel comfortable and ready for adoption.

The shelter is also preparing to launch a new volunteer program designed to improve coordination, training, and communication between staff and volunteers. Volunteer Adrienne McQuitty says the program will help track volunteer hours, streamline operations, and recognize those who give their time to care for animals across Shawano County.
