The Shawano Police Department responded to a variety of calls on Monday, including several welfare checks, traffic concerns, and domestic disputes. Officers were called to Birch Hill Care Center early this morning after a woman claimed her husband was trying to choke her. Officers investigated and remained on scene for more than an hour to ensure her safety. Later in the morning, police assisted county human services with a welfare check on South Weed Street after a man who had recently left the hospital refused to let his caretaker inside. The man, who is undergoing chemotherapy, was checked by officers and determined to be safe. Other calls Monday included a reckless driver reported on Highway 22 near Cecil. The caller told dispatch the driver, appeared to be under the influence and was swerving across lanes. Police also responded to a second reckless driving complaint that evening involving an electric bike weaving through traffic on South Humphrey Circle. Officers handled several other incidents, including a disturbance downtown, a vehicle lockout at Charlie’s County Market, a deer struck on Waukechon Street, and a case of vehicle damage reported on East Elizabeth Street. The department also assisted with a warrant pickup for probation and parole and responded to a series of 911 hang-ups and welfare checks throughout the day.
Clintonville Police Report Officers were busy overnight with a series of business checks across Main Street, North Main, and East Green Tree Road. Around two o’clock in the morning, police also responded to an alarm call on South Main Street, but no further issues were reported. Later in the morning, officers conducted extra patrols near 20th Street and assisted with school patrols on 20th and West Green Tree Road. In the afternoon, police handled an animal complaint on 8th Street and two welfare checks — one on South Main and another on West 13th Street. Officers also assisted another agency on Lakeshore Road and responded to an ambulance call on South Main Street just after six-thirty p.m.
Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a suspicious situation shortly before two a.m. when a Shawano resident reported a man dressed in black walking around her driveway and sitting near her garage. The person was gone when officers arrived. A short time later, deputies handled several warrant arrests at the county jail, including two people who turned themselves in on outstanding warrants. The morning saw multiple animal-related calls — including stray livestock along County Trunk J near Tigerton and loose pigs causing trouble in Bowler. Deputies also took a report of a deer-related crash on Highway 47 near Bonduel. A welfare check in Krakow involved concerns for a man threatening self-harm, while another check in Shawano came from a medical alert that went unanswered. In the afternoon, officers investigated a scam at the Dollar General on Highway 22 after a woman reported being tricked into buying gift cards for a fake shipment of gold. Another scam was reported later in Wittenberg involving an attempt to access a resident’s bank account. Deputies also handled reports of reckless driving near Eland and along Highway 29, a trespassing complaint near Novitiate Road in the town of Herman, and a family disturbance on Swamp Road in Shawano. The day wrapped up with a noise complaint in Wittenberg just before midnight.
