Clintonville Police had a steady Sunday, handling a mix of traffic stops, welfare checks, and community assistance calls. Officers conducted several traffic stops throughout the day, including along Highway 45 near Hilltop Road and Reinke Road, as well as on Highway 22 and Autumn Street. Extra patrols were also noted early Sunday morning on West 14th Street and 20th Street. Police responded to a report of a stray animal on South Main Street around 3:15 a.m. and later handled multiple welfare checks — including at locations on South Main, North Clinton Avenue, and near 5th Street. A citizen assist was reported mid-morning at South Main and 9th Street, and a 911 call came in that afternoon from South Main Street.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled a wide range of incidents yesterday. Deputies responded to several welfare checks early Sunday, including one in Shawano and another in Wittenberg. Around 1:30 a.m., security at the Ho-Chunk Casino reported finding suspected drugs in the parking lot. A 911 hang-up was investigated shortly after 2:30 a.m., followed by a vehicle-versus-deer crash on Highway 29 near Bonduel just before 4 a.m. Deputies were also called to an assault on South Lincoln Street in Shawano around 6:30 a.m. Later in the morning, a pot-bellied pig caused a stir near Bowler after wandering loose in the area. The DNR has reportedly been dealing with the same animal for about a year. Throughout the day, deputies responded to multiple reckless driving complaints, a trespassing report in Tigerton, and a noise complaint near Huntington Court in the town of Wescott. In the evening hours, another reckless driving call came in from Highway 45 near Tigerton, followed by several reports of suspicious activity in Bonduel, Wittenberg, and Shawano. The day ended with a police pursuit just after 11:30 p.m. near County Highway HH and Pioneer Drive, with deputies deploying spike strips during the chase.
