NEW LONDON, WI – Plans to build a new beer garden in downtown New London have been delayed once again. The project, proposed by Der Wolf Garden LLC for the corner of Wolf River Avenue and Smith Street, was originally slated for completion this year before being extended to July 2026.
City officials recently authorized a renegotiation of the developer’s agreement after no construction work had yet begun on the property. Developer Kim Chonos says her team remains committed to the project but wants to scale back the original plan to create something more community-focused and better aligned with the city’s downtown revitalization efforts.
City leaders say they continue to support the partnership but emphasized that under the current agreement, construction must begin by the end of this year or ownership of the property will revert back to the city.
