SHAWANO, WI – With the Ball of the Badges coming up next month, Shawano Police Chief Mike Musolff says he’s proud to share some exciting news, one of his own is being honored. Officer Tyler Thornborrow has been named Officer of the Year and will be recognized for his outstanding service and community impact.
Musolff says Thornborrow has gone well beyond his regular duties as a school resource officer, developing programs that strengthen relationships with students and families. One of his standout initiatives, “We Need You Here,” encourages school attendance and promotes positive engagement among students. “It’s an amazing little program that he’s put together throughout the schools, and it’s definitely impactful,” Musolff said. “Other school districts and police departments would like to implement things like that too, so it’s pretty neat.”
The Ball of the Badges will take place on Thursday, November 14th at 5 p.m. at the Mohican Star Casino and Resort in Bowler, bringing together law enforcement agencies from across the region to celebrate service, leadership, and community connection.
