TOWN OF BELLE PLAINE, WI – Authorities in Shawano County are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of an 82-year-old Pella woman Friday afternoon. According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just after 4:30 p.m. on October 10 to the area of County Road M and Capitol Drive in the Town of Belle Plaine for a report of a single-vehicle crash. When officers arrived, they found an overturned vehicle in a ditch with one person inside. The driver, identified as Mary Rades, was unconscious and not breathing. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, Rades was pronounced dead a short time later at a nearby hospital.
Officials say the crash remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released at this time.
