Shawano police responded to a variety of calls Wednesday, ranging from medical assists to reckless driving and shoplifting.
Just after midnight, officers were called for a welfare check on East Division Street after a woman reported concerns about her father, recently released from the hospital following a stroke. Police confirmed he was safe.
Later that morning, officers and EMS responded to a medical call at Safe Haven for a 31-year-old woman suffering from a severe headache. She was treated at the scene and taken for further care.
Around 10:45, police investigated a reckless driving complaint on Waukechon Road. A caller reported a dark blue Jeep squealing tires, nearly jumping a curb, and with a passenger reportedly hitting the driver.
Minutes later, first responders were called to Green Bay and Lincoln Streets for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Multiple witnesses gave statements at the scene as ambulance crews treated those involved.
Police also handled two separate animal neglect complaints. One involved a dog left in a vehicle in a grocery store parking lot, and another where a witness reported seeing a neighbor striking his dog before pulling it inside.
Other calls included shoplifting at Charlie’s County Market, a group of juveniles reportedly trying to enter vehicles at Walmart, and a red car that illegally passed a stopped school bus with its lights flashing.
Officers also picked up an individual on a warrant, handled noise complaints, and responded to a late-night disturbance on Sawyer Street.
Clintonville Police responded to a range of calls throughout the day on Wednesday. Officers assisted with an ambulance call on Anne Street shortly after midnight. The early morning hours also saw multiple business checks along South Main, North Main, and West 12th Streets, along with an extra patrol on 15th Street.
Traffic stops were made on North Main at West 13th and on Lakeshore Road near Hilltop Road. Police also participated in a community engagement event on West Green Tree Road and conducted a school patrol on 20th Street.
In the afternoon, officers checked a suspicious situation on Industrial Avenue, provided an escort at West Madison and West Street, and handled a disorderly conduct call on South Clinton Avenue. Evening activity included parking enforcement on Stewart Street and at 9th and Main, and a trespassing complaint on 7th Street.
Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputies handled a busy day with 35 calls for service. Among them, officers responded just before 1 a.m. to a suspicious activity report near Maders Circle and North Airport Drive in the Town of Wescott. A short time later, around 3:30 a.m., deputies stopped a driver reported for reckless driving on Highway 29 near Marathon County.
In the morning hours, officers took a suspect into custody on a warrant from North Main Street in Shawano. They also investigated a pair of 911 hang-up calls in Aniwa and Shawano, both of which turned out to be non-emergencies.
Deputies were called to a home on Campfire Road around 9:30 a.m. for a disturbance complaint and later investigated a scam case in Marion where a resident reported fraudulent activity. Around lunchtime, officers took a report of theft from a property on East Crystal Drive in the Town of Wescott.
Other calls throughout the day included several welfare checks, vehicle lockouts, a traffic complaint near Eland, and a suspicious vehicle report in Shawano where items were reportedly thrown from a passing car.
In the evening, deputies investigated a possible drug-related offense along Highway 22, as well as two disorderly conduct complaints and a noise disturbance in Shawano.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department also reported three calls, including a traffic hazard on Highway 29 and 22.
