Shawano Police had a busy Monday, responding to a variety of calls across the city.
Just after 1:30 in the morning, officers were called to East Fifth and North Hamlin Streets after a resident reported a man and woman yelling loudly. The female was later found crying in a nearby parking lot. Police checked the area and closed the case.
Later that morning, a red Dodge Ram struck a light pole near the Channel Letter Factory on South Airport Drive. The pole was damaged, but the truck was able to drive away.
Around mid-morning, officers responded to Shawano Community High School for multiple incidents, including a welfare check, a juvenile problem, and a report of truancy.
At nearly the same time, police were called to a domestic disturbance on South Union Street. The complainant told officers the incident had occurred days earlier, involving physical abuse and the suspect refusing to let her leave. She also revealed she had just learned she was pregnant.
Other calls throughout the day included reckless driving on Highway 47-55, stray dogs reported on East Maurer Street, a vandalized car with its windshield smashed, and several vehicle lockouts at local businesses.
In the evening, officers checked on an 87-year-old woman on South Lutz Street who believed someone was outside her home. They also assisted with a welfare call where a woman reported her boyfriend was being assaulted by his parents.
And late Monday night, multiple officers joined an investigation in Bowler after a vehicle was found in a ditch. A man wandering the roadway told police he was searching for his sister, who had been driving the SUV.
Clintonville Police handled a steady flow of calls. Officers began the overnight hours with extra patrols at local parks and multiple business checks on Main Street. Around five-thirty in the morning, they responded to an animal nuisance complaint on 18th Street.
Just before eight, police were called to a two-vehicle crash at North Main and 20th Street. No serious injuries were reported. Later in the morning, officers handled a welfare check on Lincoln Avenue and investigated a harassment complaint on North 12th Street.
The afternoon brought a disorderly conduct call near Sixth and Bennett, a school patrol on West Green Tree Road, and several 9-1-1 hang-ups, including one at County Highway O and Highway 45. Police also conducted a traffic stop on North Main and served a warrant on South Main Street.
Evening calls included an animal bite on Modoc Street, a disabled vehicle along Highway 22, a fire alarm on Hemlock Street, and extra patrols at Memorial Circle.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled a wide range of calls Monday, including repossessions, warrants, traffic complaints, and welfare checks.
Deputies arrested a woman at the county jail lobby on a warrant early in the morning. A short time later, they responded to Blueberry and Regina Roads for a report of a man and a driver arguing along the roadside.
In Bonduel, a driver swerved to miss a deer and crashed into a gate, but no injuries were reported. Deputies also checked on a suspicious welfare call at the courthouse involving an elevator alarm with tapping sounds in the background.
Later in the day, a reckless driver was clocked at 120 miles per hour on Highway 29 near Wittenberg. Deputies also investigated a burglary in Caroline, where a caller discovered their back door open and reported that their dog may have been given away without permission.
Evening calls included multiple welfare checks, property damage in Marion involving a tree trimming dispute, and a disabled vehicle along County Road K. Deputies also responded to an intoxicated person report on Moh He Con Nuck Road and a late-night 911 open-line call.
Meanwhile, Stockbridge-Munsee Police logged seven cases, including a theft in Bowler, a warrant arrest at Bowler School, and property damage in Gresham where someone attempted to steal a cable. They also responded to a welfare check of a distressed woman, a sick deer that had to be dispatched, and an OWI crash where a brown SUV ended up in a ditch.
