Northeast Wisconsin – A major grocery acquisition is coming to Wisconsin. St. Louis-based Schnuck Markets announced it is purchasing Festival Foods and Hometown Grocers, acquiring all shares held by CEO Mark Skogen and company employees.
The Hometown Grocers affected are as listed:
Dave’s County Market – Merrill
Denny’s Supervalu – Algoma
Don’s Quality Market – Seymour
Lake Mills Market – Lake Mills
Lakewood Supervalu – Lakewood
Super Ron’s Food Center – Pulaski
Thompson’s County Market – Oconto
Thorp Supervalu – Thorp
Wittenberg Sentry Foods – Wittenberg
Festival currently operates 42 stores across Wisconsin, while Hometown Grocers runs nine more locations under various banners. Company officials say shoppers won’t see big changes right away, all store names will remain the same, and both companies will continue to operate from their Wisconsin headquarters.
The purchase expands Schnuck Markets’ presence in the Midwest and adds another major player to Wisconsin’s competitive grocery market.
