WAUPACA, WI – A 38-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl who had been reported as a runaway.
According to the Waupaca Police Department, officers began searching for the girl on Monday and were able to track her movements downtown using security cameras. A short time later, officers located the juvenile in the back seat of a vehicle parked in an alley with the suspect, identified as Jaime Rodriguez Zambrano.
Zambrano was arrested on two counts of child enticement and two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child. He is currently being held in the Waupaca County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and believe there may be additional victims.
