Shawano Police responded to a variety of calls Wednesday, ranging from traffic incidents to public safety concerns.
Early in the morning, officers made an arrest for operating after revocation following a traffic stop near County Road B and South Main Street.
Later, a bicycle was recovered from the Kuckuk Park walking trail. Police say it was abandoned and has since been secured.
Just after noon, officers conducted a welfare check on East Elizabeth Street after a medical alert wristband was activated. The individual was located and assisted.
In the afternoon, Shawano officers were called to a minor two-vehicle fender bender at Fairview Way and East Green Bay Street. No injuries were reported. Around the same time, a suspicious vehicle with two people slumped over inside was investigated at the Elizabeth Street skate park.
Police also handled a drug-related complaint at Olga Brener School, a hit-and-run crash at McDonald’s on East Green Bay Street, and a three-vehicle accident with road blockage later in the day.
Other calls included a fraud complaint involving unauthorized bank withdrawals, an uncooperative patient causing a disturbance at ThedaCare Medical Center, and an animal complaint involving a barking dog. Officers also turned over a mother cat and four kittens to the humane society after they were dropped off at the fire department.
Clintonville Police responded to a steady flow of calls Wednesday. The day began with multiple business checks and extra patrols during the early morning hours. Later in the morning, officers handled a utility problem near East 14th Street and McKinley Avenue, and also provided extra patrols around local schools.
Just before one o’clock, police responded to a theft on North Main Street, followed soon after by a threatening complaint at the same location. Officers also dealt with a lost-and-found case, a traffic stop, and an agency assist on County Highway C.
In the late afternoon and evening, calls included a suspicious person on Club House Drive, a welfare check on Motor Street, and a report of illegal burning on West First Street. Police also responded to an animal problem on Wilson Street and a juvenile runaway reported on Bennett Street around 8:40 p.m.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to a busy day of calls on Wednesday, logging 38 incidents across the county.
Deputies investigated multiple traffic crashes, including one just after 1 a.m. when a vehicle went into the ditch along Lake Drive near Shawano. Later in the morning, a semi rear-ended another vehicle near the Ho-Chunk Casino, though no injuries were reported. Additional crashes were tied to deer strikes and reckless driving complaints.
Deputies also handled a number of trespassing and theft reports. In one case near Cecil, a property owner reported a newly installed road sign stolen. Another call near Krakow involved the theft of a 7-by-12-foot dump trailer.
A warrant arrest was made in Shawano Wednesday morning, and deputies also assisted with medical and fire calls, including a dumpster fire in Wittenberg. In the late afternoon, an assault report was filed in the Town of Washington, while harassment complaints came in from both Shawano and Wittenberg.
Other activity included vehicle lockouts, several disabled vehicles, and a hit-and-run crash in Wittenberg.
Meanwhile, the Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department logged four calls, including a warrant arrest near Mission Lake Road and a car-versus-deer crash in Bowler.
Authorities remind drivers to stay alert for deer, especially during evening hours, and to report suspicious activity right away.
