CLINTONVILLE, WI – A referendum for the Clintonville School District is moving closer to approval, and Superintendent Troy Kuhn says the opportunity came as an unexpected blessing.
“It kind of just fell into our lap,” Kuhn said, noting that the district has been able to maximize state aid and use those funds to help pay down debt.
Much of the work has been supported by about $3 million left over from the district’s earlier middle school and elementary referendum. Kuhn said leaders weighed two options for the leftover money, immediately paying off debt or investing in needed district projects.
So far, the district has used the funds for new parking lots, roof replacements, and a maintenance shed. About $75,000 remains unspent, and final decisions on how to allocate those dollars will be made at the Construction Committee meeting on Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school library.
