STEVENS POINT, WI- The Wittenberg-Birnamwood girls volleyball team opened its season strong, finishing 3-1 at the Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) preseason tournament on Tuesday
The Chargers earned a 2-1 win over Wisconsin Rapids (25-13, 23-25, 15-7), a 2-1 victory over Green Bay NEW Lutheran (23-25, 25-19, 15-9), and a 2-0 sweep of Berlin (25-14, 25-19). Their only setback was a 2-0 loss to De Pere (21-25, 15-25).
Stat leaders included Brie Ladika with 40 serve attempts, seven aces, and 33 digs; Lily Metropulos with six aces, 26 kills, 31 assists, and 37 digs; and Kaitlin Tuskowski with 33 assists and five aces. Melaina Granquist added 22 kills and five blocks, while Chloe Jones chipped in six block kills.
