Shawano Police responded to a variety of calls Tuesday, ranging from traffic concerns to welfare checks.
Officers were called to County Road B and South Lincoln Street around 8:45 a.m. after a motorist in a silver Dodge Ram nearly struck a woman in a wheelchair crossing the street. The caller met police at ThedaCare Clinic to file a report.
Later that morning, police investigated a minor hit to a motorhome on South Evergreen Street. The owner reported the vehicle had been struck sometime between August 8th and 9th, and the suspect vehicle was not identified.
Two probation arrests were made Tuesday at the Department of Corrections office on East Green Bay Street.
In the afternoon, officers conducted two separate welfare checks. One involved a man found sleeping in a yard on South Sawyer Street near Sacred Heart School as children were being released. Another call reported a young man dropped off near East Center Street wearing only a towel with handcuffs on his legs. Police and EMS responded to both incidents.
Other calls included a shoplifting report at Charlie’s County Market, a counterfeit $100 bill passed at Shawano Lawn and Stone, and an evening hit-and-run where a motorcycle rear-ended a semi on East Green Bay Street before fleeing the scene.
Police also assisted with animal complaints, medical calls, and several property recoveries throughout the day.
Clintonville Police handled a range of calls Tuesday.
Just after midnight, officers assisted with a vehicle repossession on West First Street. Through the morning, police made several traffic stops, including one near Maple Lawn Drive and another at North 12th and Green Tree Road.
Around 10 a.m., officers responded to an ordinance violation on North Main Street, followed by a harassment complaint reported a little after 11:30. At noon, an animal complaint came in from 7th Street.
Later in the day, police assisted with a vehicle lockout on 6th Street, and provided mutual aid in Waupaca County. Officers also conducted a welfare check on 16th Street around 4 p.m.
Other calls included a suspicious person on South Main Street and several routine patrols.
Shawano County deputies handled more than 35 incidents on Tuesday.
The day began shortly after 2 a.m. with a suspicious person report near Highway 47-55. Just after 6 a.m., officers assisted paramedics with a medical call in Tigerton.
A few traffic hazards were reported early in the morning, including at Highway 22 and Ash Circle, and again near Lake Drive. Around 8 a.m., deputies responded to a report of disorderly conduct on Hillside Drive in Pulaski.
Later that morning, two traffic crashes were reported—one involving a dog in Pulaski, and another at Highway 47 and Lake Drive. There was also a bail-jumping incident and a drug-related case in the county.
Around noon, deputies responded to a burglary on Lyons Road in Birnamwood, and later took a woman into custody on a warrant at a nearby residence.
Animal complaints were common throughout the day, including three separate animal bite calls—two involving dogs and one a cat. Deputies also investigated a reckless driving complaint, assisted with a property theft report, and handled a harassment complaint in Clintonville where a woman said her neighbor had been recording her children.
That evening, deputies responded to a property-damage crash that was blocking an intersection near County Highway MM and handled several other traffic and animal-related issues across the county.
