The Seymour Thunder are off to a good start this season with wins at the last two events.
BAY – NORTH CONFERENCE MINI MEET #2 – VERNON HILLS GC
PESHTIGO, WI – Seymour showed its depth and consistency on Tuesday afternoon, running away with the team title at the Bay North Conference Mini-Meet #2 at Vernon Hills Golf Course.
The Thunder carded a team score of 174, far ahead of Shawano’s 218, while Oconto and Bonduel tied at 224. Sturgeon Bay rounded out the field with a 268.
Seymour junior Morgan Lewis set the tone, firing a medalist round of 36. Her teammates kept the pressure on the field, with sophomore Lyla Schueler taking second at 43, and junior Ava Skenadore sharing third at 46. Seymour placed four golfers in the top six, as sophomore Maci Heagle (49) and senior Jaelyn Wenninger (52) also finished inside the top 10.
Shawano was paced by senior Madelyn Moesch, who tied for third with a 46. Junior Lauren Seehafer added a strong round of 53 for the Hawks, while teammates Hailey Hawkinson (59), Gwyn Hermann (60), and Alyssa Singer (67) rounded out the scoring.
Oconto’s top finish came from freshman Lacey Sikora, who matched Moesch and Skenadore with a 46. Teammate Sage Olson shot 56, and senior Allison Johnson carded a 59.
Bonduel was led by senior Hailey Spates at 54, with junior Paige Wolf, senior McKenna Onesti, and Sturgeon Bay’s Hayden Montevideo all tied at 56.
Other strong finishes included Bonduel’s Morgan Staszak (58), Sturgeon Bay’s Maria Neri (64), and Oconto’s Kendra Steier (63).
With two mini-meets in the books, Seymour has firmly established itself as the team to beat in the Bay North, while Shawano, Oconto, and Bonduel continue to battle for positioning behind them.
SEYMOUR THUNDER INVITE – AUG. 21st
SEYMOUR, WI – The Seymour girls golf team kept its winning streak alive Thursday, defending its home course with a narrow victory at the 2025 Thunder Invitational at Crystal Springs Golf Course.
The Thunder posted a 367 to hold off Bay Port and Hortonville, who tied for second at 370. Kaukauna finished close behind in fourth at 374, while West De Pere (392) and Kimberly (395) rounded out the top six in a deep field of 14 teams.
Hortonville’s Senior Olivia Kernen carded a 86 to lead the way for the Polar Bears and finished 4th among all individuals.
Seymour’s Morgan Lewis led the way with a medalist-winning round of 82, edging Wrightstown’s Ella Swanson (84) and Bay Port freshman Eva Kentop (85). Seymour showed its depth once again with sophomore standouts Maci Heagle and Lyla Schueler each carding 91 to crack the top 10. Junior Monique Martinez added a 103, and junior Ava Skenadore chipped in with a 110.
Shawano placed 11th with a team score of 427, paced by senior Madelyn Moesch, who fired a 94 to finish tied for 15th overall. Junior Lauren Seehafer (109), junior Alyssa Singer (111), senior Gwyn Hermann (113), and junior Hailey Hawkinson (117) rounded out the Hawks’ scoring.
Marinette took 13th at 452, led by junior Anna Marzahl’s 94. Sophomore Delaney Menor (113) and freshman Sophia Borths (119) added solid rounds for the Marines.
Sturgeon Bay finished 14th, with junior Hayden Montevideo (113) and junior Maria Neri (115) leading the Clippers’ effort.
The win adds to Seymour’s early-season dominance, as the Thunder have now claimed back-to-back conference mini-meets and their own invitational. With Lewis setting the pace and a balanced lineup supporting her, Seymour has positioned itself as one of the top teams to watch in the Bay and beyond.
