GILLETT, WI- The Oconto County Fair is offering more than just rides, games, and food this year, it’s also bringing lessons in safety and community awareness.
Fairgoers can learn about opportunities to become a school bus driver for the Oconto Falls School District, part of an effort to help address ongoing transportation shortages.
The Oconto County Health Department is also on hand with a powerful demonstration highlighting the dangers of leaving children in hot vehicles.
The display features two thermometers, one outside and one inside a vehicle, showing just how quickly temperatures can rise. “It’s surprising how fast it goes up. It goes up at least 20 degrees within ten minutes,” said Mary from Safe Kids, who helped coordinate the exhibit.
The demonstration was made possible through grant funding and a partnership with State Farm Insurance, ensuring families walk away with both fun memories and life-saving knowledge.
