Marlene “Marly” M. Miller (née Manke) age 94 of Clintonville, passed peacefully Wednesday August 20, 2025 while surrounded by her loving family.
Marly was born in Milwaukee WI on July 14, 1931, daughter to the late Henry and Esther Manke (née Pick). She was a 1949 Milwaukee Luther High graduate who played violin in orchestra and participated in intramural sports. She worked for Mutual of New York in Milwaukee before her marriage to Reverend Donald Miller on August 16, 1953. They then served in mission churches in Boise City, OK and Statesville, NC. Marlene and her husband answered the call to serve congregations in Reeseville (WI), Racine (WI), Belleville (IL) and LaGrange (IL) before coming to St. Martin Lutheran church in Clintonville in 1979. Marlene was actively involved in LWML and Ladies Aid. She played piano and was a lifelong lover of music, especially sacred choral music. She enjoyed the great outdoors – “God’s amazing creation” – and gardening, as well as camping annually with her family in Ottawa National Forest.
Marlene is predeceased by her husband Donald H. Miller, her sister Alda H. Gordon, and her son Andrew. She is survived by her children: Beth (Mark) Kuehn, David Miller, Hope (Terry) Di Piazza, Dean (Nancy) Miller, and Dan (Judy) Miller, as well as grandchildren Brant, Dillon, Natalie, Julia, Laura, Christine, Darren, Amy, Abby, and Thomas, and great-grandchildren Aquinnah, Hewitt, Sofia, Carlota, Olivia, and Sadie.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, August 25, 2025 at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville with the Rev. Jason Zobel officiating. Interment will take place following the service at St. Martin Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Larrabee.
Visitation will take place on Monday at the church from 10 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marlene’s name are preferred to be directed to St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville.
