CLINTONVILLE, WI- The Clintonville VFW Post has recognized longtime member Leroy Ashauer with a special honor that ensures his name will be remembered for generations to come.
Thanks to a donation from WTCH Radio, the post was able to present Ashauer with a Bronze Legacy Life Membership, a distinction that provides an annual endowment in his name to the Legion’s national organization. The membership ensures that Ashauer’s name will remain permanently recorded in the books of the American Legion.
“This means that forever, Leroy’s name will be remembered and tied to the mission of the American Legion,” said a Post representative during the presentation.
Ashauer, who has been involved in Legion activities for many years, was celebrated for his dedication to veterans, his service, and his ongoing support of Post 63. Members noted his long commitment to the organization, including helping lead events and efforts in the Shawano community.
Post leaders also highlighted that the Legacy Life Membership goes beyond individual recognition. The perpetual endowment will continue to support the work of the Legion, from assisting veterans and their families to promoting patriotism and community service.
The ceremony included reflections on Ashauer’s long service, with fellow members joking about his goal of reaching 96 years old and continuing to stay active in Legion activities.
“This is something we wanted to do for Leroy to make sure his legacy lives on,” said the Post.
