BELLE PLAINE & WAUKECHON, WI – Road construction season is far from over, as a new project is set to begin Monday on Highway 29 westbound between Highway 22 and the Wolf River.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the work is needed due to poor soil conditions and inadequate drainage that have damaged the roadway and bridge embankment. During construction, eastbound Highway 29 will be reduced to a single lane, with a speed limit drop to 55 mph in the two-way traffic zone.
The westbound exit ramp to Highway 22 will also be closed to allow repairs and provide construction access beneath the Wolf River structure. Drivers needing to reach Highway 22 will be detoured via Highway 55.
The DOT says the project is expected to be completed by late October, weather permitting.
