SHAWANO, WI – Shawano Police are investigating a series of late-night vehicle break-ins across the city, many involving unlocked cars. Police Chief Mike Musolff says the incidents are mostly happening after midnight and may involve local teens.
“I wouldn’t think the parents would be letting them go out of the house,” Musolff said, expressing concern over a lack of supervision. He emphasized that parental involvement is critical in preventing crimes like these and in keeping both teens and neighborhoods safe.
“We need the parents to spend more time figuring out why their kids are leaving the house at night without their knowledge,” Musolff added.
Police are also reminding the public that the city’s curfew for youth ages 14 to 17 is in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from midnight to 6 a.m. on weekends. Teens are only exempt if they’re accompanied by a parent or guardian during those hours.
