Susan Ann Boerst, age 84, of Bonduel, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. She was born on July 4, 1941 in Appleton, Wisconsin to the late Carl and Margaret (Jacobs) Reuter. Susan spent her childhood years on a farm near Sherwood and attended High School and Holy Family Convent of Manitowoc, followed by earning her teaching degree at Holy Family College of Manitowoc, thus beginning her 35 year teaching career, a profession she truly loved. Because Sue taught in various schools with various requirements, she was able to teach her students with innovative methods. On July 24, 1976, Sue was united in marriage to her husband of 49 years, Gary A. Boerst. After retiring from teaching in May of 1997, Sue served as Town of Lessor Treasurer for six years. Then she found a fulfilling role spending countless hours volunteering at Bonduel Community Archives. Besides the Archives, Sue was a historian for her church, cemetery, and town park. Sue will always be remembered as a thoughtful, caring and compassionate person who had varied interests, including the love of the outdoors, gardening, landscaping, animals (especially her cats), sewing projects, going to folk fests, traveling and sharing time with family and friends.
Sue is survived by: her husband, Gary Boerst; her son Kevin (Tara) Boerst; her step children, Dawn Kohl, Jim Boerst, and Wendy (Mike) Johnson; grandchildren, Anika Boerst, Nicole (Brandon) Wheeler, Briana (Ryan) Schwartz, Natasha Garrett’s, Alyssa (Cole Tenney) Boerst, Haily (Regina Graells) Johnson, and Jacob Johnson; great grandchildren, Hope Wheeler and Evan Wheeler; her brother, Steve (Sue) Reuter; nephew, Nick Reuter; as well as close cousins and close friends.
A funeral service for Sue will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Our Savior Christian Church in the Town of Lessor with Rev. William Tisch officiating. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again at the church on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery.
Sue’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Unity Hospice and Good Shepherd Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care.
