SHAWANO, WI – A big change is coming to this year’s Market Animal Sale at the Shawano County Fair, as organizers announced the event will move from the Coliseum to the East Dairy Barn building next door.
The move is part of ongoing renovations to the Coliseum, which is being prepared for new cement and other updates. UW Extension Coordinator Tammy Goers says the East Dairy Barn is being transformed to better serve as the fair’s central event space.
“They’re flipping the East Dairy Barn where most of the 4-H and FFA dairy cattle were held into the Coliseum,” said Goers.
The new location is expected to provide more space and improved seating options for events like the Market Animal Sale and the Futurity Show. “They’re hoping to be able to get higher bleachers in there so we can have more seating, especially for our auctions and the Futurity Show, where the Coliseum didn’t have much room for everyone,” Goers explained. “So, hopefully, with this new layout, we’ll have more seating so more people are not as tight in for the auctions and such.”
Fair officials say the change is designed to enhance comfort and crowd capacity just in time for this year’s fair season.
