Shawano County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Pursuits, Trespassing, and Welfare Checks
SHAWANO COUNTY, WI — July 16, 2025 — A high-speed motorcycle pursuit, multiple welfare checks, and a string of reckless driving reports kept Shawano County deputies busy throughout the day Wednesday.
The day began just after 1 a.m. with a pursuit on Highway 29 near Spruce Road in Pulaski. Deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle clocked at over 120 miles per hour. The fleeing vehicle exited westbound at Exit 160 before law enforcement lost contact. The case was later closed with no suspect located.
About an hour later, a trespassing complaint at a home on Moheconnuck Road in the Town of Bartelme resulted in the arrest of a 30-year-old. A resident reported an unfamiliar vehicle parked at the property while they were away and suspected it was a relative. Deputies confirmed the identity and took the man into custody.
Later in the morning, authorities executed a warrant arrest at a residence on North Main Street in Shawano.
Deputies also handled several welfare checks, including a concerning call around 6:20 p.m. at a Shawano campground. A woman allegedly experiencing paranoia expressed intent to relapse on heroin and prescription drugs. She was located with a friend, and further intervention was underway.
Additional calls included removing deer from roadways, responding to 911 hang-ups, assisting with medical needs, and investigating reports of loud music and stray animals, including a loose calf in the Bonduel area.
In Bowler, Stockbridge-Munsee Police handled a separate animal complaint after a large dog reportedly went after a resident and their cat. The dog, previously quarantined for biting, returned to the individual’s porch, prompting another response from law enforcement.
