SHAWANO, WI- Drivers on WIS 29 in Shawano County can expect to be watched from above this week as the Wisconsin State Patrol Air Support Unit conducts aerial traffic enforcement.
The targeted enforcement is scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, with patrol pilots monitoring for speeding and aggressive driving violations along the busy highway corridor. When violations are observed from the air, pilots communicate directly with troopers on the ground to initiate traffic stops.
Shawano County is one of five counties across the state included in this week’s enforcement schedule, part of the State Patrol’s broader effort to improve roadway safety.
Officials say aerial enforcement provides a unique advantage by giving officers a clear view of dangerous driving behaviors that can be harder to detect from the ground.
