TOWN OF WASHINGTON, WI- A tragic incident in the early hours of Monday morning has left one man dead after an apparent pedestrian-versus-vehicle crash on County Road HH near Parkwood Drive in the Town of Washington.
According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a 911 call around 4:15 a.m. from a driver who believed he may have struck something while traveling on the roadway. The caller reported seeing shoes in the road but was unsure where the person may be.
Deputies arrived on scene and located an unresponsive male lying in the ditch. Life-saving efforts, including CPR by deputies and emergency medical personnel, were initiated, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as a 32-year-old male from the Shawano area. The driver, a 38-year-old man from the Keshena area, remained on scene and cooperated fully with investigators. He told deputies he was on his way home from work in Green Bay. Preliminary information indicates the collision occurred in the northbound lane of County Road HH.
Responding agencies included Shawano Ambulance, Bonduel EMS, the Cecil-Washington Fire Department, and the Shawano County Coroner’s Office.
The names of those involved have not been released, and the incident remains under investigation.
