The Shawano Police Department responded to a wide range of incidents Wednesday, July 3rd, including suspicious activity, drug concerns, vehicle lockouts, and a small fire.
Early Wednesday morning, police were called to Hamlin Street after a resident reported two young women crawling around a parked car and running off toward Green Bay Street with a brown purse. Officers reviewed surveillance footage, but the case was closed shortly after.
Later that morning, officers assisted with a car repossession on West 5th Street, where the vehicle owner was reportedly unaware of the recovery.
Around noon, police responded to a parking lot dispute at the Cellcom store on North Main Street, involving property damage and a verbal altercation. No injuries were reported.
One of the more serious calls came in just after 3 p.m., when a caller reported suspected drug use in front of a child on Olson Street. Officers responded with a welfare check, and the incident remains active.
At 4:13 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to United Cooperative for a strong burning odor. Fire personnel spent nearly two hours on scene investigating what was described as an “electrical smell” in the feed mill area. Extra patrol was requested for the evening.
And finally, a hit-and-run was reported in the Walmart parking lot around 5 p.m., involving a blue Chevy Traverse. The suspect vehicle has not yet been located.
In Clintonville, it was a busy day for local law enforcement ahead of the Fourth of July holiday. Clintonville Police responded to over 40 incidents throughout Wednesday.
The day began just after midnight with several routine business checks across Main Street and nearby areas. An early morning ambulance call came in from Industrial Avenue, followed later by a request for mutual aid at 7th and Auto Street.
A hit-and-run was reported just before 10 a.m. on Pearl Street, and an ordinance violation was addressed on South Main shortly after.
Officers also responded to multiple suspicious activity reports, several traffic stops, parking and welfare checks, and assisted with a citizen lockout on South Madison.
As evening fell, fireworks complaints surged—calls came in from Brix Street, Memorial Circle, and several other neighborhoods, peaking just before midnight.
Police also responded to a motor vehicle crash at South Main and East Madison around 11 p.m., which led to an OWI arrest at the same intersection shortly after.
