SHAWANO, WI – Shawano’s annual Fourth of July fireworks display is set to light up the sky tonight, but organizers are facing increasing costs due to tariffs on fireworks. Chief among the challenges is the fact that 99% of fireworks worldwide are imported from China, and the tariffs have significantly impacted the price of the show. Despite these rising costs, the city is committed to providing a spectacular display for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Paul Kersten, a local organizer of the event, shared his thoughts on the situation. “The tariffs have definitely made it more expensive to put on the show this year,” Kersten said.
If you’re planning to attend and park near the Shawano Airport or surrounding areas, be prepared for some adjusted traffic flow. For those parking on the north side of the airport, off Gumaer Road, expect to be directed north on County Highway H and Airport Road when the show ends. Those parking on the south side of the airport, near Lakeshore Lanes or Hope Church, will be directed south on Airport Road, making their way back into the city.
Shawano Airport will offer parking for those attending the show, and nearby parking options include Four Seasons, Lakeshore Lanes, and Hope Church. These traditional spots will be available for guests planning to enjoy the fireworks display.
