VERONA, WI- The Seymour boys golf team made history Tuesday at University Ridge, capturing the Division 2 team championship at the 2025 WIAA State Boys Golf Championships.
Competing in just their fourth-ever State Tournament appearance, the Thunder put together a stellar two-day, four-player total of 638 to claim their first team title in program history. Their consistent play across both rounds was enough to hold off Cambridge, which posted a 653 to finish as runner-up after moving up from Division 3.
The victory was made even sweeter by a dramatic finish on the individual leaderboard. Seymour junior Vince Sigl battled senior Kian Bystol Flores to a tie at 3-over-par 147 after 36 holes. Sigl then sealed the win by carding a par on the first playoff hole to earn medalist honors. It’s a fitting milestone for the three-time State qualifier, who tied for 16th in 2024 and finished 28th as a freshman in 2023.
With both a team title and individual championship, Seymour’s 2025 run marks one of the most memorable performances in recent State golf history.
